Don’t have suitable boots for glacier tours? Especially for ice climbing, the right footwear can make all the difference.

Our rental boots are La Sportiva Trango Tech GTX, B2-class mountaineering boots. They are compatible with semi-automatic (lever lock) crampons and have a fairly rigid sole, which makes them a great choice for ice climbing and any other glacier activities. Note that due to the rigid construction the walking experience of mountaineering boots is different from softer hiking footwear, and in some cases may lead to sore spots or blisters – especially when paired with thin socks. Choosing thicker socks (or two pairs), and possibly going up a half size in shoe size to accommodate the extra volume, may help.
We initially have only a limited number of boots available; if you can’t find a suitable size please be sure to let us know – the plan is to expand our range in the future, and knowing which sizes we are missing will help.
Please note boot rental is currently only possible in combination with our tours – I can’t offer those boots for your independent activities (but, again, if there is sufficient demand, this might change).
