All tours are guided by stepman and have the same, consistent high quality guiding that our clients love. And, since you are always dealing with the owner of the company, special requests or changes do not need to be “checked with the office” and any feedback you may have goes directly to where it matters.

Everything is simple, direct and personal. Just like we believe it should be.

Not finding what you’re looking for?

Activities can generally be styled in many different ways – from family friendly to challenging – and always ready to be further customised according to your preferences. In any case, there’s always last-minute flexibility and a strong focus on having plenty of time to enjoy and learn more about the environment we move through.

If you’re not finding exactly what you’re looking for or would like to receive a quote for a fully bespoke activity, please send us a quick email and we’ll work with you to put together an amazing program!

Environmentally Aware stepman cares deeply about the world we live in, and our tours give us unique insights into the processes and changes going on in the world around us. We are happy to share our knowledge, both in our tours and online, and are actively trying to minimize the impact of our activities. We are only a tiny company, but that is not an excuse to not do the best we can. Scientific Support We are always ready to assist scientists with all aspects of their research, from transportation logistics to glacier safety and public outreach. It is not only important to learn as much as we can about the changing world that we live in, but these missions provide unique insights and scientifically accurate information that we can immediately communicate to our clients on regular tours. Glacier Mapping From 2017 to 2021, we conducted a research project using affordable, consumer level drones and open source software to survey glaciers and map their changes with high resolution and frequency. The project is currently on hiatus due to a defective drone, but we plan to resume it as soon as we can afford a replacement. You can check out a collection of the produced maps at https://maps.stepman.is/ . Cleanup & Community Probably the most magic thing about Iceland is experiencing its raw, untouched nature. Unfortunately much work is needed to keep it this way, with man made trash finding its way even into very remote locations. We volunteer an entire day on a regular basis (roughly once per month, but varies depending on seasons) to beach, roadside, or mountain cleanups and related activities. Training Days Nobody is perfect, and as outdoor professionals we must always strive to keep our skills as sharp as possible, and never be satisfied with the status quo. To assist in this continued professional development, I am organising monthly training days for the community of outdoor professionals. Participation is free of charge but limited to certified guides, members of search & rescue and similar organisations. MORE THAN JUST GUIDING
